Pickerings Lifts Takes Back Stage Role at Birmingham Repertory TheatreFebruary 07, 2008
Bespoke roller shutter door designed and fitted in four weeks –
specialist Doors & Docks Division achieves 100% turnover increase in two
years
Building on its growing reputation as a provider of bespoke doors, dock
levellers and scissor lifts, Pickerings Lifts’ specialist Doors & Docks
Division has installed a roller shutter to access the workshops and
backstage area at the internationally renowned Birmingham Repertory
Theatre.
In order to meet the Theatre’s tight time schedule, Pickerings designed,
manufactured and installed the door in just four weeks. “At the same
time, we were able to meet the unusual requirements and constraints of
the location,” confirms Pickering’s Customer Support Manager, Doors &
Docks Division, Marcus Clissold.
“The door itself is much larger than standard and the operating
mechanism was required to be contained within an especially small
footprint, so as to enable the operation of a crane used for moving
stage scenery.”
Following a successful installation, Pickerings has since secured the
contract to maintain all the Theatre’s acoustic and access doors.
For his part, theatre manager, Nigel Cairns, is particularly pleased
with the implementation. “Pickerings’ flexibility and responsiveness,
both in terms of initial installation and on-going support has ensured
trouble-free operation, critical in our business in which rapid
turnaround for staging and other materials demands constant access.”
“Pickerings has an unrivalled reputation for creating bespoke lift and
other access solutions designed to meet individual end-user
requirements,” confirms Marcus. “In particular, our success in providing
flexible solutions which ideally meet the unique demands of the
entertainment sector, has resulted in the Doors & Docks Division
doubling its turnover in the past two years.”
