Pickerings Lifts is High Rolling at Crockfords Casino

Three bespoke solutions meet the specific requirements of grade 1 listed building

Genting Stanley Ltd. which operates over 40 branded casinos throughout the UK, has selected Pickerings Lifts to deliver three lifts in total to its flagship venue, Crockfords Casino in central London.

Pickerings, who have a long-standing maintenance contract with Genting Stanley, had already carried out work at the Mayfair venue and was aware of the challenges the site presented.

Pickerings’ Sales Director, Mark Thompson explains: “As a grade 1 listed building there were a number of difficulties to overcome including a very tight lift shaft with a minimum head room and lift pit, and restrictions on the times we could work as the casino remained open throughout the refurbishment.”

Pickerings installed three lifts in total in the casino, two passenger lifts for customers and staff, all Machine Room Lifts from its Sigma range, as well as a food service lift. All of the solutions were designed from scratch to meet the specific requirements of the venue and have been installed and tested.

The Crockfords Casino is the world’s oldest private gaming club founded in 1828. The building has recently undergone refurbishment to add additional floors and a smoking terrace for customers.

David Barrett, head of property development for Genting Stanley, adds: “As Pickerings handles the maintenance contract for all of our lifts, we were confident that they could deliver the solution we were looking for. Pickerings was able to meet with all our requirements which included working to a very tight programme which meant they were not able to make any noise after 11am.”

Thompson concludes: “Having worked with the rest of the group nationwide to install lifts in all new builds, as well as modifications such as this, Pickerings has proved that it can deliver end-to-end solutions and that it is an expert in bespoke design, manufacture, installation and maintenance.”
